Introduction to the London Team Rapidplay
On Saturday, the 2nd of April 2010, Imperial College will be hosting a open Team Rapidplay event open to all, with a large number of London and out-of-London universities invited. Club teams are also welcome to join, as well as individuals who can be ‘teamed up’ on-the-day. All are welcome!
A fun day of competitive chess in a great Zone 1 location, the venue is also conveniently located directly above the Imperial College Union bar, serving a variety of drink (at incredibly cheap prices!) to lubricate the parched throats of our competitors as well as snacks and food. Many restaurants and takeaways (info provided on the day for any who would like) are also comfortably within a 5-10 minute walk, and the schedule with an hour break for lunch should leave sufficient time to relax and grab a bite if required.
London Students League Announcement
Important note: This event will also be used as a springboard to launch the London Students League in September 2011 (a refurbished version of the old ULU League for those who remember), a six-board league open to all academic institutions in and around London. Please get in touch to indicate interest in this if your university has students or staff who would like to play in a league! The London Students League will be a reformed-and-improved version of the currently defunct ULU league that was in operation until a few years ago. Academic institutions throughout London are invited to join a 6-board ECF rated league starting with the 2011-2012 academic year. Rules will be drawn up and ratified in March/April and entries will be accepted through to the summer. Please get in touch with John Sargent (see Contact page) if you are interested in fielding a team!
